Replenishing and cleaning
Thursday was supposed to be a rain day but there was very little. We had an appointment with our dermatologist at 8:30 so we were up early. We made it on time and met with him. He is a very jovial Christian man and is fun to be with. He has lost much weight because he has developed diabetes over the past couple of years. He checked us all over and found something he thinks Evelyn should have removed, so we made an appointment for next week. He used his freeze can on both of us. He always carries it, giving me a chance to joke with him about it. We left there and walked across the parking lot to see if Evelyn could have wax removed from her ears. We thought we would have to make an appointment, but she was taken in after a short wait. The doctor, who we also like, came in to see if it was safe to flood her ears for wax removal. He told us what a disaster the new health care bill is for the medical profession and us, the people who have to use it. He sent the nurse in to flood Evelyn’s ears. The process is uncomfortable because the warm water has to be pumped into the ear canals. Hers was thick and well ensconced, requiring more time to soak. She finally was cleared, but by now it was 11:30. We came home for lunch and began cleaning the house by doing much laundry. Evelyn must have done 4 loads today. We went back to town and made many stops: GO grocery, library, and Belk. They were having a sale on Petites and Evelyn bought 4 mock turtlenecks for the winter. We also ordered her Estee Lauder that we buy every year when they offer the gift accompaniment. We made another stop at Food Lion on the way home. We had eaten almost everything in the house before we went cruising and needed to replenish the larder. We had no sooner put the things away when the computer repair called saying the new screen was in and could be installed if I brought it. Back to town I went and killed an hour while they worked and was home by 6 for supper. We are trying to eat heavier at noon and lighter in the evening.
