Beginning the trek west.

We had a leisurely breakfast before disembarking on Sunday.  We took a cab to the airport and arrived 4 hours early.  We just sat around and watched football until 4.  We were sitting in front of the check in desk but still almost missed the call to board.  We slept a bit on the 2 hour flight back to Atlanta.  We jumped on the MARTA, called Karen and went to the North Springs station.  We had one problem because a woman who took this train often told us to get off and change trains.  We did but found we were on the correct train all the while.  Karen took us back to Stacy’s where we spent the night.  We did learn that our battery was dead.  I must have left the GPS turned on running the battery down.  We scrounged up some food from the refrigerator and got a good night’s sleep.

In the morning I called Stacy to ask where Tom’s car keys were.  She told me and I backed his car up the driveway and out to where I could hook my jumper cables to our cars.  It worked and our car started immediately.  We drove off right on our schedule.  We stopped for breakfast after leaving Atlanta and drove on to Meridian MS.  We checked in to the La Quinta Inn where we had a reservation.  The desk clerk recommended Weideman’s restaurant for dinner, so I drove the car and trailer to downtown where we enjoyed a delicious crab cake, blackened redfish and a piece of Black Bottom Pie.  We went to bed early.  I didn’t mention how cold it was in Atlanta when we arrived and when we left this morning.  It was in the mid 50s and hadn’t warmed  up much during the day.  I had to wear long pants.  What a shock after being in the eastern Caribbean!

Tuesday we left after breakfast and continued to Lafayette.  We were blessed with no trouble and good weather all the way.  We didn’t even stop for a meal.  Instead we ate an apple and some snacks hoping to retrench our caloric intake.  We arrived around 4 and checked in.  We brought all of our suitcases in so we could organize our dirty clothes so we could launder them tomorrow.  I called Trahans and made a date for dinner at a new restaurant for us in Cecelia for tonight and a lunch date with Simon for tomorrow.  We met Jimmy and Betty at a place called Crawfish Town and had a miserable dinner.  The great event was visiting with our friends.
