Lovely trimmed trees

Monday I broke down and asked Marty to play golf.  I would have gone to the Jackson County Club’s group at Smokey Mountain, but the weather service reported a 60% chance of rain.  It is a long way to drive to take that chance, but Iron Tree is only about 4 miles away.  We went and were the first there.  We played fairly well—I broke 100—and never saw any rain.  I picked up some of the recyclables and dropped them at the center on the way home.  I often do this but worry about dirtying and stinking up the car.  Evelyn went to exercise and stayed for yoga class though she doesn’t really like it.  A friend from exercise class talked her into it.  She also mailed Noah’s gift and card.  He is supposed to open the gift first and then the card.  I am not saying what the gift is in case he reads this blog.  We were all home by noon, and I arrived to see most of our River Birch trees trimmed up to at least 8 feet from the ground.  Susan, our neighbor, had called to have hers trimmed, and Evelyn had suggested we have ours done as well.  The total charge for 4 trees was $350.  She asked us for half—$187.50—but hoped the association would pay for the project.  I know we don’t have the money right now but may have it later.  If the residents don’t vote to pay, we will not go to the poor house if we have to absorb the cost.  Evelyn made a large salad for lunch, and we ate on our deck looking at the lovely mountain.  There was no rain until late in the evening but much all night.  We are supposed to have rain all week.n  We just stayed in and watched “Major Crimes” in the evening.
