errands galore
Tuesday found us with a busy schedule. We walked the lake and returned home to clean up before starting out. We went to Wal-Mart to get my medicine refilled and went to the church to talk about being in charge of the upcoming dedication dinner. The church secretary said she thought no one had yet volunteered. We said we would. We then went to the hospital to pay a bill and to check on why we haven’t been called to volunteer. Someone did contact us by e-mail and by telephone tonight. She will try to work it out so that we can volunteer at the same time. She is talking about weekends which doesn’t excite me, but the Lord has something in mind. We left there and went to the Open Door where we served the people. It was hot today and seems to always be hot there. We have been there so long that many of the people know us, some even by name. I have begun looking for a dinner jacket to go with my new tuxedo pants so I went to two thrift stores, asking them to be on the lookout for one. We also returned some books that Evelyn has been unable to read to the library. We went to two groceries on the way home to replenish some supplies here. We came home and rested. It always tires Evelyn out to work there and her back was hurting today. After waking, we began working on making some hazelnut/poppy seed bread. I chopped the hazelnuts and kneaded the bread. We made 3 different size loaves and allowed the dough to rise. We ate a Healthy Choice meal from the grocery and then cleaned up the mess that dough and flour make. Then we were ready to bake. We were also ready to watch the Cubs play on TV. They had a big 6th inning and won their 3rd in a row. Everyone gets worried when they lose a string this time of year. We ate peanuts in the shell while watching the game.
