Hitting the ground running.

We spent most of Thursday unpacking the trailer.  We had hauled a lot of weight from TX.  It was heavy to lift out as well.  Several neighbors came to welcome us back.  Evelyn had an LWML meeting, so I took her to church and ran a couple of errands.  I did some minor grocery shopping and went to the rec center.  I signed up to go to the Asheville Tourists game on Friday.  It was a blessing to learn about that trip.  We have brought too many clothes from Texas and decided to put some into the trailer for the summer to be returned in the fall and left there.  I could hardly get my clothes into my large closet.

Friday we continued unpacking.  I met the newly weds who live across the street from us.  They both work, so they aren’t here during the day.  We have noticed that our heat pump is not working.  The blessing is that we really don’t need it because it is not too hot nor cold.  I have tried playing with the circuit breaker and the reset button without success.  We took the items Shirley Casterline ordered from Mexico to her daughter who works downtown.  We picked up some things I forgot before meeting at the rec center to ride in the van to the ball game.  A new man was hired during the winter to plan excursions.  He drove us to the game in the van.  It was a chilly night, but we dressed for it.  The regular game was only 7 innings because 4 innings of last night’s game had to be played first.  We had a big storm last night, and the game was postponed to be continued tonight.  We were home by 10:30.

Saturday morning was smoking day.  I prepared the smoker and smoked 8 pork chops, a turkey breast, and 8 small country style ribs.  I was careful to stand away from the smoker while removing the meat to avoid a reoccurrence of last summer’s burning of my arm.  We spent some of the afternoon selecting clothes to be returned to and left in Texas.  I put some of them into the trailer.  We took a nap and then walked a short way along Lake Junaluska.  I thought we could go farther but was glad we didn’t.  I must get into shape for walking again.  My legs are getting pretty old.  We spent the evening watching a weird movie called American Splendor.  It is set in Cleveland, Ohio, so we saved it for Tom, our son-in-law to see.  We also learned that there is a Bible class tomorrow morning for our edification.
