Catching up
Naturally we slept late on Friday. I just brought the suitcases indoors and Evelyn unpacked them. I worked on dumping the accumulated emails. We did take a trip to the post office to have our mail resumed and to the library so Evelyn could get some more books to read. We also went to the grocery to replenish our food supply. When we returned, we found the mail had been delivered. I was excited to see that the replacement telephone had arrived. I spent much of the afternoon opening the mail and recycling the paper. We napped in the afternoon before dressing for the ballroom dance. We were one of the few couples there. Our friends, Dallas and Karen, were helping their son move to a new home nearer the coast.
Saturday we went to the Verizon store to have the new phone adjusted. Sadly we learned that the contacts had been removed from the old phone. I spent much of the day emailing friends asking for them to send their phone numbers. On the way home we stopped at Lowe’s to buy some plants for decorating the outdoor of our home. We got some good buys, especially a Mandeville plant. We also got our aloe plant back from our neighbor. I also began practicing the scripture I was to read in church tomorrow morning. I also put many of the received telephone numbers into the new phone’s contact area.
We were up at 7 and in Bible study by 9. I went to the lectern to practice before joining the Bible study. The worship celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. We were also blessed with Holy Communion. We had planned to go out for lunch in Asheville and asked our interim pastor and his wife to join us. We had a great lunch and visit getting to know both of them. We came home by 2:30 and took a nap while watching the Cubs lose a game. We went to the first band concert of the season in Maggie Valley. It was a memorial of a female trumpet player who died at 36 just 3 weeks ago. We remembered her from previous years. We went with Jo Wooten to Bo Jangles for supper afterward. I didn’t want to go because I was sure our normal popcorn would be ignored for the evening. It was. We went to bed after the news.
