VBS begins

Monday had 2 influential events.  First Stacy and Olivia arrived shortly after noon.  Olivia will spend the week with us and help with our VBS (which was the 2nd influential event.  I had agreed to sub for a volunteer at the hospital in the patient escort department.  But that didn’t matter because of their late arrival.   We rested in the afternoon while working on computers before going to VBS.  I had thought Linda would contact Stacy, but she didn’t.  That was why she had not gone with us.  Olivia was willing to go and helped with some of the games.  We had just under 20 attenders.  The weather was good enough to allow the game portion of the evening to be outdoors.  Olivia helped with that and the craft session for tomorrow.  I worked with Dann Jesse in pulling some of the weeds in the back of the church.  The 2 little girls we invited didn’t come.  Their mother said they had another little girl with them and wanted permission from her mother.  We left hoping they would show, but they didn’t.  We were home before 9 and found Stacy in bed.  She works hard and long.

Tuesday Olivia prepared our breakfast of hash browns and eggs.  She did a good job of making the eggs over light.  Stacy joined us for breakfast but left for home around 10.  We finished some of our planning work and then left for the hospital to serve our regular day.  I had acquired a day pass for Olivia so she could swim.  She sat in the golf cart I drive for over an hour and then went in to swim for around half an hour before returning to the cart.  There were no other swimmers her age so I fear she didn’t have much fun.  She didn’t try any of the other equipment available and finished the day “hanging out” with Grandma.  I guess a man who used to be a joke writer entertained them until time to go home.  We rested a while until VBS time.  Olivia said she didn’t feel well, but we took her with us anyway.  She finally came around and helped with the crafts again.  The meal featured chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese.  This seemed to spark her up.  Again the rain held off for most of the evening, but the group of older kids had to move their game under cover.  We came home by 8:30.  Olivia went right to her room but not to sleep until later.  Evelyn was quite tired too.  Wait until tomorrow.
