Servant Event

Wednesday morning I got up and went to the church to help with the servant event. The pastor held a devotion at 8:45 and then everyone piled into cars and went to two sites for work. One group went to a poor elderly woman's house to build steps from her trailer and the other went to he Mountain Area Resource Center to build materials for use at the previous site and at future sites that need to have ramps built. I helped deliver supplies and lunch to both groups. We traveled throughout Waynesville looking for lock casters to attach to the bottom of a heavy table the kids were building. We never found a set that would work, so they improvised to make the legs larger. A 2X4 was nailed to the side of the 4X4 and the casters then fit. After lunch we delivered hand rails to the "steps" site and watched the crew leader do all the work even though he was to be teaching the young servants how to do it. I was very irritated and will not volunteer to go to any site where he is leader in the future. I even tried to help, thinking he just didn't want the young people to mess things up, but he took the tool from me and did it himself. I walked away, fuming. The Lord probably had things work this way to prevent my hurting myself. I got home around 5 and joined Evelyn and Olivia for supper and more videos. The child will watch any cartoon, even to the fourth or fifth showing.
