Hotter than H___, not the team

Saturday we arose and prepared for game day. I found our chairs, radio, water bottles, tickets, two pears and some peanuts to take to the game. I wanted to have a brunch and fixed myself three eggs we had brought with us and put them on a piece of hazelnut/poppy seed bread for brunch. Evelyn ate some rasin brand. We left early, hoping to go to the close out tent to get some shirts for the Beeli boys. There was no such tent this year. We went into the stadium about 45 minutes early for the noon o’clock game because we could find some shade there. It was too hot to stand outside. We went to our seats in the 85 degree weather and watched the game. Purdue won but not as handily as they were expected to. I was impressed with the Akron quarterback’s ability to read defenses. He really shredded the Purdue secondary. The score was 49-24 but was a much closer game. We came back, showered and talked with Bill and Shirley for a while and then heated the chicken and ate macaroni salad, shrimp dip, cheese ball, oriental slaw, Marionberry pie, cookies and peaches. We really pig out on these football weekends. We played Protestant Poker after cleaning the dishes and then went to bed. I had hoped to watch the Ohio State/ Texas game but could not get any reception. We were able to have air conditioning and that was certainly more important. We went to bed early; we were very tired. The heat takes all of our energy.
