Busy day

When we got up, it was cold and windy. We were in no hurry to get outside but did. Evelyn wanted to get to the exercise room to the treadmill. Many people use it and make it difficult to find a time to get to it. I began to walk and went to Tom Crouch’s to see if he was there. He was and drove me back to look at my sanded TV tables. He said they were paintable so we went back to his house where he had put my picture frame back together. I had wanted to do it myself but he couldn’t resist. I took the glass for the picture and the Purdue clock from the motor home to his workshop. I had to go to the hall to see if there were parking directors needed. Everyone I talked with said things were going smoothly without them. I thought so too. We will not have them for craft sales. We don’t draw much of a crowd anymore. I came back to clean up just as Evelyn was leaving. I showered and went to get into the car only to discover it gone. Evelyn had driven it to the Bible study. I walked to where she was and drove to the Alamo bank to establish a savings account for receiving the rental money we will get from the motor home and the Harlingen unit. I did that and then went to the hardware to find a bulb for the fiber optic tree and a glass for the Purdue clock. I found only the latter and took it to Tom’s and returned the car to Evelyn. I walked home and stopped to make an appointment to have our mobile carpet cleaned and picked up some blocks of mouse poison to throw under the unit. The carpet cleaner will come tomorrow at 10. Ed had lunch and we drove to Harlingen to get our teeth cleaned at the Texas State Technical College. We always supported the dental hygiene program at IPFW so decided to do the same here in the Valley. We were there from 1:00 to 4:30. That is the problem with this situation. It offers a more thorough cleaning but takes much longer. The instructor has to grade the student but also has to check and improve on the job. We left there and drove quickly back to the park for the free welcome back party at our hall. The menu was baked chicken, California blend and instant mashed potatoes. Two delicious things out of three isn’t bad. We had to eat outside by the pool and it got cooler and cooler as the sun went down. We came home and Evelyn insisted that we clean the carpet with the vacuum cleaner before the cleaner comes tomorrow. I was unhappy but did find some mouse residue from the summer. I kept thinking of a friend from Wisconsin who once observed that the dishes must be clean before putting them into the dishwasher. We spent some time looking into the Barging Through America brochure. We want to take a cruise with them next summer. We watched a TV program we like called The Closer and distributed our medicine. One of the highlights of our week!
