Covering checks
Up and the usual. I went past the Durkin’s and found Ray just leaving for the golf game at the Executive Golf Course. I picked up the sweater and sunglasses that Evelyn had left there last night. I came home and showered. Evelyn came home, dressed and then we went to the motor home to collect the rent and show the renters some of the idiosyncrasies of the coach. We left there and went straight to the Texas State Bank to withdraw $6200 to cover the check I wrote yesterday. Of course we had to take the money to the Alamo Bank since that is where the checking account is. We went on to Burger King where we cashed in a two for one coupon that bought us a Mustard Whopper Combo meal. We ate one and took the other home.
We were off to the hospital for our afternoon of volunteering at the front desk. We mostly hand out room passes to the visitors who want to visit patients. We have fun trying to understand some of the Hispanic names they give us. We also get calls from various departments wanting us to take patients in wheelchairs to their rooms or from their rooms to be dismissed. We also take medical records to different departments. We work until 5 when the paid young people come in for the evenings. We came home and decided to forego dinner and just have popcorn at the 50s dance we were going to attend. Evelyn rested and then we dressed in our 50s outfits. We went to the hall only to find a hymn sing in motion. We sat in and sang some hymns, afterward noticing that the dance we wanted to attend is tomorrow night. What a surprise! We came home and had our popcorn and watched “Dinner and a Movie” featuring the film The Wedding Planner starring Jennifer Lopez. It was only fair because it was quite predictable. I also went online to try to schedule a cruise through the Panama Canal. We decided that it is too expensive to take the River barge cruise. We have always wanted to take the cruise through the canal anyway. I called a high school friend of mine who has retired from teaching and started a travel agency. I asked him to research cruises that begin either in east Texas or the east coast and sail to California through the “big ditch”. We then want to take the train back to the point of origin. We will probably go in November of this year or May of next year. He will send us some information for us to peruse. To bed we went.
