Coming home
We arose late, ate breakfast and showered for the last time at the Hampton Inn in Savannah. Jim and I loaded the car trunk, and we left for Fort Jackson, I thought. He missed the turn and went on to Tybee Island. All we did was drive around and come back. We got confused and took some time to get out of Savannah but had a BK chicken sandwich, leaving Savannah at 1:30. We had an uneventful trip to Asheville where we had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse, Jim’s favorite restaurant. We did spend some time looking for a Kroger store in Spartanburg but found none. I wanted another loaf of bread. We shared a rib eye steak that was late in coming to us because the tray of food had been dropped. As compensation, the cook gave us our dinners for half price. We drove on to Waynesville, nearly buying the farm as we turned onto 209. Jim didn’t see a semi coming and almost drove in front of it. Evelyn and I both screamed and stopped him in time. Thanks be to God! We came home and unpacked everything while watching the Cubs beat
