Honkey tonking in Nashville

Saturday morning we went to the McDonald’s for the parfait and then walked down to an RV sales lot to look at some Rvs. We came back to the motel to watch the Purdue/Penn State football game. We just ate peanuts and beverages for lunch. Evelyn watched the first half before leaving to walk back to the mall area where we bought many Cds as gifts for people in the Valley. The record shop was opened by Earnest Tubb many years ago and one of his tour buses inside the store. It was probably quite luxurious for its day but not so by today’s standards. I stayed for the finish of the ball game in which Purdue was able to throw it away as they are in the habit of doing. We rested a bit and then dressed for the evening. We walked to the Caney Fish Camp (a restaurant). Evelyn went to buy a red cowgirl hat, and I ordered an appetizer of crab stuffed portabella mushroom and an entree of almond coated trout for us to share. We didn’t like either of them very much. We returned to the motel and caught the Gray Line bus to go honkey tonking downtown. The tour included $10 spending money that we should have used for our dinner. The guide bought us one drink, and Evelyn didn’t want diet Coke (we like diet Pepsi) so I got two beers. I drank them as we listened to the music, and we then left to visit the other bars along Broadway Street. Most of them were crowded and loud, causing Evelyn distress. We went to four and then sought out the Wild Horse Saloon where we had entry tickets included in the tour price. We wanted to have a demonstration of line dancing and do some ourselves. It was closed to the public until 11--the time we were to be taken back to the motel. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe instead and shared a brownie and ice cream treat, paid for with Evelyn’s $10 coupon. I spent mine on some mugs to give to the man taking care of our lawn in Texas. The bus came half an hour late because of the traffic, and we didn’t get home until 12. I had just bought a beer when the bus arrived so I smuggled it onto the bus and finished it at our room.
