Happy Birthday to me--70

We got up at our leisure, packed up and went off to Joey’s Pancake House for breakfast. The little girls wanted me to go blindfolded so they led me to the car. I knew where we were going but pretended to be lost. They were just ecstatic. They led me out of the car and onto a bench outside the restaurant. It is a very popular place for breakfast and we waited more than 15 minutes to be seated. I was still blindfolded when they led me into the restaurant. We were seated and the staff came out to sing a birthday song, deliver a pancake in the shape of a bear, and take my picture with a Polaroid. We all ordered and enjoyed sharing what we had ordered. Emily and Pieder treated us. We left there and went to a history of North Carolinians in the Civil War. One reenactor gave a good talk and several others fired a canon and other Civil War rifles. Noah even shot one a couple of times. We left there and were home by 2 when we prepared and ate leftovers for lunch. We spent the afternoon relaxing and playing games with the kids. I played croquette. It was hot so we wanted to walk later in the evening. We had meatloaf because I had requested it for my birthday dinner. Afterward we immediately left for the lake for our walk. It was much cooler because there was a nice breeze. We returned home and had key lime pie instead of a cake. No one but the wait staff had sung Happy Birthday to me yet. There is supposed to be a big party for Noah and me tomorrow when Tom and Stacy arrive. In all, I had a very blessed day and thank the Lord for the 70 years He has allowed me to live and serve. I thank Him for my family and their relationship with Him, Evelyn and me.
