Christmas for Mexicans
We were up and at the meeting site. There were 18 vehicles assembled, some loaded with food, fruit, blankets and clothing. We headed out to Mexico and a colonia south of Nuevo Progreso. We usually drive but rode with the neighbor across the street in their truck loaded with bags of food. We, and the other vehicles were unloaded and Santa distributed many toys and much candy to the children attending. We had leave at 10 because Judy had to cook a ham. We were saddened to encounter more than a dozen children coming for gifts and candy on our way out of the area. We were almost a mile from the school where we had taken the items and knew all the toys and candy were gone. But here were children walking there to get some. We had none and could do nothing to help them, so we drove on home. Evelyn rested a bit and then prepared a salsa cheese dip for our bike club party. We drove the golf cart to the hall and enjoyed the carry-in potluck. As always we had the best luck. I was honored to be asked to lead the prayer of Grace before the meal. We ate with Bob and Theresa and then helped clean up the hall before we left. We came home and I started loading the pictures from today’s adventures. We had only light snacks during the Purdue basketball game. I also began reviewing next Sunday’s message.
