These are pictures of the group awaiting their pictures to be taken; Evelyn and I posing for our camera; we are standing in the middle of the hall as we entered for the ceremony.
Evelyn had to take a sleep aid so I let her sleep while I walked my usual route. I returned home and made us an egg, bacon and cheese breakfast taco. It was very good. We had decided to eat late because of the scheduled 50th wedding anniversary party. We just lay around until 11:30 when we dressed in our finery. We were to be assembled for pictures at 12:30 and were on time. Of course we were finished half an hour before the party began at 2. We did get to talk with some people we didn't know well. The party featured 14 couples. The custom is to tell some of the history of the marriages and took quite a long time. We had been interviewed a couple of weeks ago and that information was used to compose a thumbnail sketch. We were impressed that 4 of the couples gave a short Christian witness in their story. We were finished before 4 and came home to change clothes. We were surprised to receive 55 cards from the residents in the park. I doubt that many people know us, but they are very kind and thoughtful. There must have been 200 people at the ceremony. This event is a very big deal around here. We ate a very light supper at 5:30 and a friend fromm the bike club picked us up to go to the piano concert at Immanuel. He is a former railroad engineer and loves classical music. The pianists were both former members of the church and one was Joe and Bonny's daughter. The music was all classical but quite different styles. We went to a reception afterward and got talk with the performers. We were back home by 9:00.
