Playing in the mud
It was another beautiful day. I checked with Armand about playing golf, so he, Jarl and I went to play around 10:30. We thought it would be a good day for golf, and it was in the air. We discovered that the course had not dried out very much since the rain Saturday. We were all walking and the wheels on our golf cart were shortly caked with mud as were our shoes. We didn’t play too badly but not well. On hole 7, there was huge water puddle in front of the green. Jarl and I both put our balls in to the water. Since it was very large, we just tried to play through it. Have you ever hit a ball out of a puddle? The water was relatively clear so the shower we got from hitting the ball was not unpleasant. I did hit one good shot using a submerged ball. Our final score was quite horrible, but we did have fun. The downside in addition to the mud was that we were stuck behind a foursome that moved like they were in their low 90s. I don’t begrudge anyone taking time to get shots off or putts lined up, but when they don’t seem to know where to park their carts, or which way to go and then stroll along to the next tee, I get frustrated. Of course it does little good to get upset. We cleaned our wheels and boots as well as we could and left so Armand and Jarl (Canadians) could get to their reunion party. Canadians as well as people from various states have dinners to which any resident of the named area are invited to a dinner. The Canadians have the best one because they play games as well. Evelyn and I ate a late lunch she had prepared. We just rested the remainder of the afternoon until the Purdue/Penn State basketball game began. We ate some peanuts while the game went on and Purdue was ahead by 13 for a while and managed to win by 1 on a last minute shot. To bed early
