Dinner with the Waters
We were up and beginning the morning ritual as usual. We were a bit late in getting to the hall to leave for the kitchen band performance. Because of that we missed seeing the 50th anniversary party planning meeting in the hall. One of us would have gone but we didn’t see them because we didn’t go inside. We just followed everyone to the Ratama Manor. We had a good performance. We are encouraged to do unusual things, so Evelyn and I danced a waltz while the others sang. Afterward we returned a faucet set that wouldn’t work for us to Lowes. We looked for different handles without success. We were waiting around after lunch but received a call from Janice that she was waiting for us at Kohl’s. She was half an hour early. We left immediately to meet her. She had given Evelyn a $50 gift certificate for Christmas and wanted to shop with her. I left them and drove to her house to meet Don. We drove around and visited his workmen so he could look after them. They were cooking some deer meat on an open fire as they worked on the tractors. We ate a few pieces and continued driving around his property, looking for wild hogs. They have escaped from some farms and moved into the brush around the farm. We didn’t see any or he would have shot one. He gives what he kills to his workers. We returned home and waited for the ladies. When they came home, they worked on some enchiladas for supper. Evelyn had bought Don’s favorite pie at Luby’s cafeteria. We watched the Purdue/Minnesota basketball game while enjoying the cherry pie. We were home by 9.
