An Appalachian Trail Hostel
This is the Standing Bear Farm.
This the bunkhouse that must house about 30 on each side of this aisle. The charge is $15 per person per night. Most hikers carry their own bed gear among other things.
I am not sure exactly what this building was, but the sign implied it was a laundry. We learned that it wasn’t. The following picture will illustrate this fact.
This is the the manager of the hostel standing in the laundry area. I don’t think the hikers have to use the dryer. There is an old fashion ringer like our mother’s used to employ just as the wash tubs in the corner.
This is a separate building that provides double beds. There is another bed behind where I am standing. The charge for this room is $20 per person per, but I don’t know if this is just for married or not. The manager told me that a group could pitch a tent in back and sleep as many as desired for $15 per night. He also said this was probably one of the most rustic hostels along the trail.
