Caroling the love of Jesus
I decided last night on the way to bed to set the alarm for 6:20 so I could get ready to attend the Gideon prayer breakfast. I went and after prayer, I was jumped to try to get a service at Southern Comfort and at Immanuel. They also wanted me to have a speaker come to Trail’s End. We don’t have enough people with money enough to pay them to come. I left with a very uncomfortable feeling. I came home and began helping to clean. I ran the vacuum again and set up some chairs and tables. I carried the cooler containing the beer and sodas to the porch and added the ice from the cube tray. I also put the wine in the cooler that the Omaha steaks came in and added ice too. I wrote a note to Frank Richards, a Gideon in this park who is on the church board, asking him to try for a service. I took it to the hall and got the mail. I came back and we had a light lunch. Evelyn then lay down to rest, and I worked on the sermon. It is somewhat short. She dressed and I dressed around 2:30 and continued preparation. At 3:45 John and Sue picked us up to take us to church to meet with the other carolers. We went to six houses and caroled the shut ins. We returned here around 7. Evelyn had a good idea to have us park the five cars at the hall, go to the bathroom there (we had not gone since we started at 4) because we had only two bathrooms, and walk to our house. There was more parking space there too. We came here and enjoyed two salads, two King Ranch casseroles, beer, wine, sodas, and many sweet desserts. The guests brought either a salad or dessert. Everyone left by 9:15 except Joe and Bonny. We talked with them a short while about taking a barge cruise next summer. We sent the brochure home with them to look over. We cleaned up and relaxed, wondering who we could invite for lunch tomorrow. Go figure!
