Shopping and celebrating
Wednesday--the second day of Christmas. We did the usual exercise/walk and then cleaned our bodies and ate breakfast. Then we did something I don’t ever remember doing before: we went shopping the day after Christmas Day. We drove to Alamo and went to Wal-Mart to get some decorations for next Christmas. We got a star to replace one we have had for years and an angel to hang in our front window. We drove on to McAllen and had the car washed at the Saturn dealer. We get free car washes for life. We then drove to LaPlaza Mall. We were looking for a Belk store but there was none. We did find a Macy’s and a Sears where we bought some Oneida flatware to replace our gold plate that is becoming badly tarnished. We then decided to go to the House of China for lunch. They have an excellent buffet that we enjoyed. (It was 1:30 before we got there.) We continued to Mervyn’s where we found another set of gold plated cutlery so we bought it, planning to return the one to Sears in a week or two. We went to Target (just one of the places) looking for a VCR/DVD combination for the exercise room. The park has agreed to buy a new one if we can find one on sale during Christmas. So far we haven’t found one that they will support. We did find more Christmas decorations and candy at ½ price. We also looked for candles for the Advent wreathe and a green blouse for Evelyn. We returned home and watched the Purdue bowl game after Evelyn took a nap. In all we had a very successful day. It even continued as Purdue knocked the stuffings out or Central Michigan 51-48! During halftime I paid for our New Year’s Eve tickets and mounted our new star of Bethlehem in the tree above our lighted manger scene. Did I say Purdue won its bowl game?
