Sunday

Sunday was another day of blessed worship with Holy Communion. There were 43 people in attendance. It was the final Sunday before Christmas and there were younger visitors from Canada. They had been there before last year. They are the children of one of our pianists from Canada. After the service one of the worshippers invited us to their house for cookies on Christmas Eve. We will try to do that. We stayed for the Bible study which went better than last week. The leader stuck closer to the book. We came home and finished preparations for dinner with our guests from two doors down. He had taken care of our lawn for much of the summer. Evelyn had made jambalaya that was delicious. They stayed until 3 and we cleaned up the kitchen before taking a nap. When we awakened we went for a walk. It was cool and we had to wear jackets. We came back and had popcorn to eat. We called our friends from the past, the Maders, who now live in Henderson, NV. We were close friends while we were teaching in Indiana. We also called some friends who moved from here a couple of years ago. They are staying in Milwaukee because they are too old to make the trip down. Evelyn worked on putting some pictures in a scrapbook while we watched “Leminy Snickett and a Series of Unfortunate Events”. It was an interesting movie starring Jim Carrey. We went to bed early waiting for our Lord’s return. I forgot to mention that Evelyn had called my brother last night while I was working on the sermon. They are still planning to come to visit in March.
