chilly soup weather
Monday was cold and rainy in the morning only cold in the afternoon. We slept late after going to bed early. We went to walk the lake but got only less than halfway around. It was raining but not hard. The problem was that we needed to get Evelyn downtown for the WW weigh-in at 10. We made it and she is still “alive” but not by much. We went to a lawyer’s and learned that we have constructed our by laws wrong. We went to Kathy’s work and got the fern we had left with her last fall. We had forgotten what we had done with it. It was lunch time when we got home and Evelyn made a salmon burrito for lunch after we had eaten our steel cut oatmeal. The burrito was a strange item but fairly good. We then went through our freezer to take inventory. We certainly have a lot of meat and ice cream. We have steaks from last summer and will have to eat them soon. Evelyn spent a couple of hours working on a “use what you have” soup that we had this evening. It was a corn chowder loosely based on a recipe from Paula Deen. It was delicious. We will likely have it for the next two days. I think the high today will be only 60 and there are predictions of frost both tonight and tomorrow night, making it good hot soup weather. We napped a bit in the afternoon so we thought it beneficial to continue our walk around the lake. We went and made it all the way around this time. We returned home and relaxed. Evelyn watched “Dancing with the Stars” while I worked on securing our rope lights on the deck. I called the man in Texas that has a set of Ping golf clubs that he will give away to some school group. I offered him $50 but he wants $200. He says he can deduct $1200 from his taxes if he gives them away, apparently translating to $200 in his pocket. I don’t play well enough to invest that much money. We stayed up late tonight because “Its Monday night. Time for Headlines.”
