Shindig
We were up at the usual time and ate breakfast before going out to pull and dig weeds out of our south slope. We had wanted to do that for several weeks but finally got much of it done today. We got started before it got too hot but it was hot by the time we finished. We stopped around 11 and Evelyn began cleaning more peaches. I dinged around outside thinking we might go to walk around the lake. (That was in the original plan.) We heated up things for lunch, but Evelyn had an upset stomach, forcing her to lie down. I ate while she napped. I then cleaned up for the day since it was obvious we weren’t going to walk. Around 4 we left for Asheville to shop for some kitchen items and go to the Shindig on the Green, a free bluegrass festival. We arrived at the festival around 6:30 for the anticipated 7 o’clock start. Just as it was time to start, the rain came. It was not hard nor stormy but did delay the start for an hour. While it was raining, I was shocked to see the AARP driving coordinator that I worked under last year in Texas. He has bought a home somewhere in Asheville and plans to spend the summers in the mountains. Evelyn was still not feeling normal so we left a but before 9 and drove home. We will return to church tomorrow morning.
