cruise day 7

We were exhausted and slept until after 10. We dressed and wandered around until noon when the dining room opened. We sa next to couples who lived near Ft. Recovery, OH near where I grew up. We knew many of the same people. It was fun to talk, and we planned to get together for dinner in the future. We came back and napped some more. We also went to play some cards until wine time. Evelyn has been drinking the Pepsi light we bought at one of the ports. We also went to play some cards until wine time. Today was the day we sailed around Cape Horn at the bottom of the continent. There is a ceremony that involves the captain pouring water over the heads of those wishing to be “baptized as a Fuegan.” Fuegan is a term derived from the natives that live their lives naked and sit around campfires to keep warm. Their fires lighted the way of Magellan when he sailed through the Strait. I expected the water to be cold from the sea but it was warm. I guess it was taken from the swimming pool with water taken from the ocean. We went to dinner late and decided to forgo the gaucho show because we had an early rise planned again for tomorrow.
