Happy Independence Day

I got up and assembled the ingredients for the omelets but left them for Stacy to cook. I went outside and watered the plants. I also trimmed some of the lower branches of the river birch trees and the holly bush that was so high that flag gets caught in it. I came in and checked the e-mail before going to eat my delicious omelet and potatoes that Stacy had cooked. Tom took the car and went to get some more candy to throw out from our car in the parade. We loaded the decorations into the car and went off to the parade site. We had a good time as always while decorating the car. The theme was “Overflow with Hope” and we selected “Our Hope is Christ”. The car looked very good, and I hope to publish pictures of it soon. The kids got rid of our candy. The crowd seemed smaller this year to us. We drove to the lunch site and had the usual barbecue offering. Evelyn and I were not hungry so we just listened to the bluegrass band, watched the cloggers, and shopped around the craft displays there. We left about 12:30 and came home. There was a band concert on the courthouse lawn, but we didn’t go. Evelyn lay down and tried to nap. She had wakened at 1 last night and didn’t get back to sleep until after 4. We certainly wish we could understand why this occurs sometimes. We went out to join the others. Olivia and Tyler played together very well. Peter and I played Yahtzee for more than half an hour. Then Tom brought our computer out and showed us our family tree and how to locate it. I didn’t get to see all of it because I had to begin the grill for cooking our hamburger supper. We invited Frieda and Tyler to join us and they brought baked beans and wine from South Carolina. We enjoyed our visit with her. We packed up chairs and went to the lake to watch the fireworks. Evelyn and I didn’t really want to go but did anyway. They were excellent. Tyler went with us. We had to go to Waynesville to get home because of the traffic pattern established.
