tragic death and a miracle
Friday morning was a good time to put the finishing touches on our party preparation. We had the porch set nicely for 13. We went for our shift at 12:30 and had a good day. At least I did. Evelyn’s knee was better than it had been for the past week, but she had to stuff bags for the stock show all day! It really did a number on her back but didn’t bother her knee. As Armand, Roger and I went to golf this past Monday, we went past a horrific accident on the freeway. There were 3 bodies on the scene as went buy but all looked alive. Well, today, we learned that a young girl had died from that accident. One of the volunteers said that the car was traveling at 120 mph and blew a tire. She was in our ICU. Her family was around the lobby much of the day but were not allowed to visit her. I was surprised to learn that she was a 19 year old twin, and her sister was in the hospital in Harlingen. We never learned her condition. Evelyn and I left early and came home to get the final preparations made for the party. Everyone came at about 5:30 and stayed for just over an hour. We had a nice visit and some great snacks and beverages. Evelyn does a marvelous job of preparing foods and organizing our area. I try to make sure everyone has enough drinks. She had made a margarita mix that must have been good because some people had 2. We all enjoyed the snacks and had enough left over for the party we will have next Monday. Emily called to tell about her preparations for Rosalie’s trip. We will bring her home tomorrow evening. I had used some ice I had gathered up from the neighbor’s today and will try to gather up more to put into the coolers Monday. God is to be praised for the miracle He has performed for our neighbor, Tom Kruse. Tom came home today and walked up the steps into his home. He was aided by some friends and his wife, but he did it with less help than anyone would have thought. We finished our clean up and went to bed at the regular time. We get to sleep in tomorrow morning.
