Bargains

We got up and did our exercising and then took the Jeep to the welder to have the mounting iron removed. We were late so we left it there and drove the Saturn to Wal-Mart looking for after Christmas bargains. To our surprise there were many lights which we needed for replacements. For example our pre-lighted tree had lost the upper half of its lights. We have worked a long time trying to locate the problem, but just gave up and bought a string of colored lights and strung them around the tree, leaving the other lights in tact. Who knows: after taking them out next year, they may work. That happened with the garland we hang from our porch. We also bought a few other items and returned to bring the Jeep home. I forgot what I wanted to do and sent Evelyn home while I went to our electronics repair man to see if he would allow me to park the Jeep there with the for sale sign in the window. When he agreed, I remembered that I needed a ride home. I called and she came. We had lunch of turkey and sweet potatoes before taking a nap. I then went back to Wal-Mart to get more lights because the star/cross that hangs above our lighted nativity scene had gone out. I also got some other things and returned home to restring lights into the cross. I did a fairly good job and finished just after dinner. We then went to the hall to play bingo. We rarely go but when we do Evelyn wins at least one game. She won tonight just as she did last year. We came home and entertained the Newcomers for eggnog and cookies. The Durkins have arrived and we are eager to see them. I did not return the call they made to us because they have been up since 4:00 AM or so and the Newcomers left at 10. It was too late to call, but we will see them in the morning.
