School's out!
I got up intending to walk but went to the hall and began talking with many of the morning regulars. That was my mistake. I stayed longer than I wanted and had to shorten my walk. I did encounter the man in charge of the bicycle rides. He assured me that we would be riding in the morning at South Padre Island, have lunch and then offer the option of riding to the north end of the Island. We will have to come home instead to prepare for the heart healthy meal. We are hosting and providing the entree. Around 10 Evelyn met with her partner in charge of ladies leisure to plan the rest of the year. They finished and we ate lunch. I went off to the last half of my driving class. It went well, and I received many kind compliments. When I begin to think I deserved them, I remember that the glory goes to God who gave me the gift to communicate in an entertaining manner. I came home intending to pick up the car that was to have the mounting iron welded to it, but the welder had another more serious problem and could not get it onto the hoist. The kind neighbor took me to get it because we need it tomorrow. I also had to drive to Alamo to talk to the AARP area coordinator about sending my report in. He had one hour to devote, but I didn’t take that long. We went to a Stars drive in and I had an extra long hot dog and Evelyn had a banana split. We then went to the HEB to get some groceries for tomorrow. I also found a bargain on wine and stocked up. We brought everything home and skinned the chicken quarters and thighs to make them more heart healthy. That is a horrendous job that would have been much easier had they been cooked first. We couldn’t do that because we wanted to roll the chicken in the heart healthy corn flakes. I finally got to write this blog and went to bed to be rested for the ride in the car to and ride the bikes on South Padre Island. We did receive word from Geneva that Evelyn’s mom seems to be strong enough to go to the dining room for dinner, even though she is still has weak lungs.
