Golf and crabs
I was up early Saturday to play in the CanAm golf tournament. I rode to Stuart Place Country Club with a neighbor. We had a shotgun start at 8 AM and my group started on the 3rd hole. I pared the first hole we played and bogeyed the second. Things went back to normal from there and ended with a 60 which was not as bad as some others. One man shot 77. I left early with him and came home to learn that the barbecue dinner we wanted to attend was last night. I had put it on the calendars wrong. Evelyn was disappointed (so was I) but was a bit mollified by my offer to take her to Joe’s Crab Shack for dinner this evening. We invited one of the men who works with us at the hospital and his wife to go with us. We had also been invited to Van Wells to play cards after we had made plans to go out. I went to the golf party after lunch to ask the blessing on the pizza dinner that they were having. I had not signed for the party, thinking we would be going to the RGV barbecue party. We went to Joe’s and we shared a shrimp dinner. Paul and I also like beer a lot so we shared a pitcher. We finished our dinner but I was not satisfied with our server. Unfortunately, I had to leave after telling Evelyn to tip him the minimum 15%. She tipped him $4.50 instead of $3.60. As Evelyn left the booth, she didn’t notice a small step down and feel flat on the floor. We walked out slowly in case something serious showed up in her wrist or hip or something. She seemed to be fine despite a bruise on her ankle. We thank God for his protecting her in this mishap. We went to the Marble Slab Creamery for ice cream before returning home for the evening. I practiced the sermon after printing it.
