smoking, golfing, and dancing
Friday was another gorgeous day, a gift from God. We went for our morning walk and were very comfortable even though somewhat overdressed in jeans. This “dogwood winter” (the cold spell after the dogwood trees bloom) must be over. The locals say that there will be one more: blackberry winter. We had to come home so Evelyn could change into lighter clothing and I changed to a short sleeve shirt and shorts then off to the golf course. They don’t charge for her to ride along. I didn’t play as well today as yesterday but the weather, the scenery and company made it fun. We finished and came home at 3 because I had started the smoker before we walked and wanted to make sure things were not overdone. We had found a deal on country style ribs (my favorite smoking meat) last week and had bought a turkey breast and 4 rock Cornish hens and smoked them all at once. They looked perfect when we took them off. We packaged them to freeze and went to Wal-Mart to get some diapers for Evelyn to donate to charity tomorrow morning and ask for medicine for me. Unfortunately my prescription had expired. We also went to Lowes to get some fertilizer and charcoal since I had used all of mine in the smoking process. I tried once again to contact Kara about work at Taco Bell but didn’t. We returned home for a snack lunch/supper before resting. We then went to the ballroom dance at the armory and had a good time dancing although the people we wanted to visit with weren’t there. We returned home and got ready for Evelyn’s LWML trip tomorrow.
