We had hoped for more rain today but didn’t get any. I checked the neighbor’s rain gauge and found we had .5 inches yesterday. Doris had planned to go to the Open Door with me but was sick. She let me use her car so that Evelyn could drive to the church. I worked at the Open Door from 11:30 until 1:30 when I received a call from the church. Evelyn had become very weak and did not respond to conversation. She was white and the nurse there had sat her down and called me. Another lady and her husband had brought her home and unloaded the car. I had to stop at the drug store for some medicine prescribed yesterday and hurried home.
She was much better and in bed. I gave her a phone and had her call the gall bladder surgeon to ask for a referral to Dr. Nathan, a gastroenterologist. She called but had to leave the request with the nurse. The retired nurse that was at the church with her called to see how she was and said she would talk to some of her friends who worked for the doctor. It may be that she will be able to get her in to see him. It is difficult to get in and we don’t have much time. I had leftover sesame chicken for supper and Evelyn ate 2 HUGE bites of the chili I had made during the afternoon. We had some hamburger that needed to be used, and I mistakenly browned it, thinking we could still use it to make meatloaf. Wrong. We had wanted to make chili anyway so I added the onion, Rotel, and spices and cooked it more. I walked around to Jim and Kathy’s to invited them for chili next Monday night and then came home. Evelyn rode with me to the grocery to get some Ensure and PowerAde. She won’t eat much and will never gain any strength if she doesn’t so I bought these supplements to give her some calories and nourishment. We came home and sort of finalized plans for the neighbor to host us for breakfast tomorrow morning. She wants to teach Evelyn how to make biscuits. Otherwise it was a quiet day and evening.
