Visit with the Oefingers and blessings
We were up at 7 local time and showered for the day by 8. They were not up until we were finished. We had offered to take them out for breakfast, but Deana had planned pancakes and sausage. She is old and very slow and deliberate, working laboriously around the kitchen. The sausage was delicious, making me want to take some with us. Evelyn was concerned that it might spoil because the locker did not have any frozen so we didn’t get any. After breakfast (it should have been during) we did our laundry and left for Shelbyville at 1 Indiana time. It was an even more beautiful day and we made very good time again. We arrived in Shelbyville at 4:30, called Bill (thinking we would take them out to a Chinese restaurant) and learned that Shirley had prepared ham and escalloped potatoes for us. We enjoyed the short time we had to visit with them, learning that Bill is not healthy. His Parkinson’s disease makes him uncomfortable sitting for any length of time, even in church. Shirley asked us to keep praying and keep in touch. We had to leave shortly after 6 to get to Erlanger at a decent hour. We were able to buy gas for $2.13 + our 5% discount. We arrived at the motel where we left the make up bag but had no discount coupon, meaning we would have to pay the full $79.99 price. We drove to a service station and found one allowing us to pay $54.99. We had prayed we would find one and it must have fit the Lord’s plan. We carried many things into the room and Evelyn showered again today; this time washing her hair. We watched the final game of the World Series and rested well.
