Back in Texas

We got up and were in no hurry to get going because we thought we had no chance to get to New Braunfels today. We ate breakfast and began packing. I went back to the breakfast room and got more coffee. While I was there, a couple came in cajoling about life insurance while getting their breakfast. I left and got a call from the manager when I got back to the room. The couple came to a van yelling back to the manager about a room. Evidently he had asked what room they had stayed in and they told him 115, our room. They jumped into the van and left quickly. They had just wanted a free breakfast. They should have chosen a more expensive motel. The food wasn’t that good. We finished packing, hooked up the trailer, and left for the grocery where we bought a pound of crawfish tails. We went to the Best Stop and bought some frozen boudin and pork tasso. I put them into a Styrofoam cooler I had bought at the grocery. We drove west and bought a bag of ice when we got gas. We went on to the Texas welcome center to get coupons for motels. Ironically, there were none for any motels between Houston and San Antonio. We drove to Schulenburg and found a local motel. I ate the last of the chicken gumbo our neighbor had sent with us from NC while Evelyn went to the adjoining restaurant for some chili. We were very early so we spent time in the room balancing and destroying some of the charge slips we had accumulated. We didn’t watch any news or election coverage because I didn’t want to hear the pundits crow and unethically try to influence voting in the later time zones. We can learn what the outcome is tomorrow.
