July 12
Tuesday was a busy day. We went to walk the lake around 9:00 and then I went to the café to write and dump e-mail. Shirley was going to come to get Evelyn so they could get some paint for some pictures and look at some unfinished furniture. Her problem was that her car wouldn’t start and she had to wait for a tow truck. It was impossible for him to get to their cabin so he let the car be powered by gravity to the bottom of their mountain. There he could put the car on the truck bed and tow it to the shop. We went on by ourselves and found the furniture shop and a neat little café/coffee shop. Shirley met us for lunch. The place is a sort of warehouse and had bags of coffee sitting around. It was very Columbian. I came home and they went to get the paint and see Shirley’s grandson in a play. I built a make shift ramp of wood so I could drive the Jeep up, giving me room to crawl under. It was very shaky, but it worked. The young married girl came over for some help with a nutrition class she is taking and was very enlightened by the professor emeritus. We got ready and went to the church for a potluck and video discussing more history of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. We came home and got some pictures ready to hang. We are also going to ask the guests Thursday evening to help with some furniture. They used to build houses in Richmond Hills, near Savannah GA. Their son still does some wood working and may be willing to build some things for us. The trick will be getting it here. Bill and Pat do go there occasionally and will likely come back in the fall. Perhaps they can bring the items back to us. These are dreams and may not ever materialize, but I know they are good Christians and can build very quality pieces.
