Bowl game blues

We arose and had cereal for breakfast. We decided to skip showers because it had been chilly, and we had not perspired much. Besides we can always conserve water. We made plans with Bill and Shirley for dinner after the game. We walked down to the airport, something we had never done in all the years at Purdue. It was small but had many pictures featuring Amelia Earhart who was an aviation consultant at Purdue when she took off on her last flight. In fact she was flying a plane loaned to her by Purdue. We walked back, and Evelyn made chili for the evening and tried baking four cookies which blended into one. We heated hamburgers I had grilled a few weeks ago and got ready to go to the game. When I went to the location in the motor home where I keep the tickets, they weren’t there. We literally took everything from every cupboard looking for them. I finally determined I had taken them to NC in case I decided to sell them and would have them to mail. We went to the ticket office and received a replacement ticket. We also hung around Mackey Arena where there were many games and events set up. We won a T-shirt and a travel mug that I left under our seat at the game. We then went to the game early to look for Mick and Ellie Keppler but did not find them. We went to our seats for the slaughter. It was a pleasantly cool day but not much happened on the field that made us happy. It seems likely that the string of attendance at eight bowl games is over. We wonder if even IU won’t beat Purdue this year. We left before the game ended. When the center hiked the ball right past the quarterback who was looking to one side, I decided I had seen enough high school football for the afternoon. We walked back in a crowd of other disillusioned fans and heated the chili. Shirley brought many things too which is what she usually does. After we ate they went back. We ate more than we should have that late. The game wasn’t over until 7:30, and dinner was even later. We will look forward to homecoming next weekend and then the trip back home.
