concerts and rain outs
Sunday was the Lord’s Supper. We also sang as a choir. After worship we came right home to finish the dinner prepared for our guests, Jennifer and Jonathon. They came right on time and we had hors doerves before our pork cutlets and sour kraut dinner. Evelyn had made mashed potatoes from scratch and did a good job. We had Barber’s apple cake and bunny tracks ice cream for dessert. They left around 2:30, and we went straight to bed after cleaning up the kitchen. We were tired, and I wanted to see the Cubs game on TV tonight. It didn’t begin until 8. We got up and drove to Jennifer’s rental so that they could follow us to pick up Frances and go to the Haywood County band concert. We went and enjoyed its theme of music from movies, Broadway and television. It was hot just as it has been everyday for nearly a month, but there was a breeze once in a while. We came home and had popcorn while watching the game that lasted only three innings before a cloudburst ended it. We went to bed so I could get up early tomorrow. Unfortunately, the naps prevented our going to sleep immediately. Cest le gere!
