A beautiful ride
What a beautiful day for a bike ride on the beach! We loaded the bikes on to the trailer and left with some friends about 8:30. It is at least a good hour’s ride to South Padre Island. We parked the trailer in the usual place and rode off on the usual path. The difference was the beautiful weather. The tide was out and I wanted to ride on the beach but would have had to go alone because no one would go with because of fear of getting sand in the gears. That might have been a problem on another day but not this one. We made the round trip (7.3 miles), reloaded the bikes and our group went off to Dirty Al’s restaurant for shrimp. Theirs are very jumbo. Evelyn loves shrimp. They have a spicy sauce that can be used on their unusually crisp french fries that have some sort of breading on them. We shared a fish and shrimp dinner and I had a beer. Evelyn had a lemonade. (Enough detail, Stacy?) We stopped at a couple of beach type stores on the way off the Island and then came straight home. I made it to the last half of the park choir practice for the Christmas Eve cantata. I think it is the same one we did last year. I came home and found Evelyn asleep, so I worked on trying to fill out the sermon for Sunday. We ate a sandwich for supper, and I worked some more. I also dragged out many of the Christmas items so we can decorate this week. I think we will have to buy some more since we have had many of these things since living in Indiana. I think I finished the sermon and then quit. We did make a tentative plan with Don and Janice to meet sometime for dinner in the next two weeks.
