Amazing Grace

Saturday was another busy day once we wakened. The exercise group doesn’t meet on weekends so Evelyn doesn’t have to open the door. We slept until 8:30. I then took the car to Mercedes to be inspected. The price to have this done had increased dramatically in two years. After that I went to have the tires rotated. We have 24025 driven miles and many towed miles so it was past time. This service too has increased. I went to Wal-Mart to return the over the counter drugs I had bought yesterday. I then returned home to find Evelyn working on tomorrow’s dinner. I watched some football but did help with the preparations that I was able to help with. We then went to the Subway to buy two footlongs to take to Joe and Bonny’s for supper. She had picked some fresh green beans and invited us to come to watch “Amazing Grace”, a movie about Wilbur Wilburforce of England. He was a devout Christian and friend of William Pitt in the struggle to have slavery outlawed in England. He fought for more than 20 years, trying to do the Lord’s work here on earth. Just 3 days before his death, parliament passed the bill. It is interesting to hear pagans assert that slavery was sustained by all Christians when in fact no white man ever sold blacks into slavery. It was the warring tribes in Africa who sold each other to white merchants who became slave traders. In fact it was Christians like Wilburforce and Christians who established the underground railroad system that helped bring the practice to an end. We enjoyed our evening and came home for the night.
