The first of a series of parties

Thursday was much cooler--52 when we arose. I was up and at Big Lots by 8:15. I had seen an ad for DVD/VCR combinations for $29.95 and know they don’t get many. As it turned out, that ad had run since Sunday and the three they had were long gone. I left a request for them to call me if they got any more. I did buy some gifts for our Angel Tree child while I was there and then returned home. Evelyn went to Weight Watchers for her monthly weigh in and learned she had lost a pound. We had an omelet out of the new WW cookbook around 11 because we were going to the hospital Christmas party at 3. The repairman came and took the golf cart away. He said he would likely bring it back tomorrow or Saturday morning. I worked on the worship services and went to the hall to call two people to read on Sunday. We didn’t get ready to go to the party until almost 4 but were surprised to learn it didn’t begin until then. I don’t know how the misinformation made its way into the announcements. The fare was similar to last year: chicken and pork tamales, taquitos, tortillas filled with pork, steak or chicken, pica de gallo, and various salsas. There was also chocolate and white tres leches cake. The chocolate had rum in it and was delicious. There was a DJ playing lively music, much of it Hispanic. We had a great time dancing. We danced the Samba, twist, and swing. The hospital also gave many prizes. We won two poinsettias by answering some trivia questions about “The Night Before Christmas.” We were home about 7:45 and relaxed. We called the restaurant to check on our reservations for tomorrow’s after caroling dinner and found that we may not have the room we thought we had may not be available. I called and they said we could have a catered meal. We will call tomorrow to confirm things tomorrow afternoon. We called our eldest grandson to wish him happy 14th birthday. We don’t get to see him much.
