Goodbye to dear friends

Monday was hot and quiet. Evelyn went to exercise, and I was quickly off to change oil. I went to Georges and had a nice visit while working. I stopped at Juan’s, and he agreed to work on repacking the bearings as soon as I could get the trailer there. I took it back and he said to return at 2 to get it. I went home and we continued to organize bits and pieces to pack. I also brought more things in from outdoors for protection against things becoming missiles during a hurricane. We had lunch of some leftover fish from yesterday’s botana. It was not very good. Evelyn took a nap after cleaning more of the things out of the cupboards. I went back and got the trailer, but thought, as I was going, that the license expired on the trailer today. I called the Texas Trader and was met at a local Valero station with a temporary plate. They will mail the regular one to NC. I have been arrested twice before for an expired license on a trailer and didn’t want to go through that again. Janice called and wanted to bring some pictures for us. We talked while I watched the Cubs season opener. I went to Crouches and took him to the hall to get the ice cream from the freezer. I learned he will have a large melanoma spot removed from his head tomorrow morning. I then unhooked the trailer so we could go to Joe and Bonny’s for supper. We took many items to them that were opened but not worth taking with us. We had spaghetti and some Irish Creme floats for dessert. They are such lovely friends, and we always miss them during the summer. They keep saying they might come to NC if he can get away from the engineering projects for a length of time. We came home to a quiet house because I had taken the Direct TV receiver to the trailer before we left for supper. We will sleep well tonight--I hope. It will be a long drive tomorrow.
