back to normal

Monday we tried to get back into our routine. We were walking around the lake by 8. We saw some ladies coming with some roses. The caretakers trim the rose bushes periodically and give the cuttings to passers by. Unfortunately we were too late. We met Frances, our friend who lives on the lake and she invited us for coffee. We accepted because we usually say no and didn’t want to lose the invitations. We enjoy talking with her and her husband Mickey. We came went to church to have some copies made but no one was there. We went on to the post office to mail things to the Noah. They should be there when he arrives tomorrow. We came home and Evelyn prepared a large lunch because we had not eaten breakfast. Afterward we worked on cleaning the slow cooker. We had put 4 large chicken breasts into the slow cooker yesterday afternoon and forgot about them until 11 last night. The barbecue sauce was burned and stuck to the sides. Evelyn then took a nap and I went off to walk the front 9 at the Lake Junaluska golf course. I played 2 balls as usual and was surprised that I played the first ball well but not the second. I returned a bit later than planned. We ate supper of the rescued chicken breasts and had dessert with our new neighbor from across the street, Doris. We talked about the family that had visited while we were gone on the trip. She had a good time with the kids. Evelyn had made a peach pie she served with ice cream and Doris enjoyed it a lot. I am trying to develop the habit of going to bed earlier than we have been.
