July 13

We got up and waited for Shirley to call telling whether she would walk with us today. As I turned on the phone, she called to say that she had not heard anything from the repair shop nor from the insurance adjuster and wanted to stay close to the cabin. We went on for our walk and my leg didn’t bother me too much again today. Perhaps the Lord is healing it. I spent time at the café and then came home for lunch. Evelyn is preparing food for tomorrow night’s guests. We will introduce them to boudin, one of our friend Ray’s favorite foods. We then ate leftovers of pork from last week. Sharon, the builder brought some workers to finish the trim inside the storage area, so I had to remove all the things from the floor. The painter then came and put on two coats of paint. It still needs another coat. I am using remnants from the house carpet to put on the floor. It rained as usual and I was left to work alone cutting the carpet. We had leftovers from Sunday for dinner and then went off to choir practice. Evelyn went along. What a good servant. She really can’t sing well but tries and makes a “joyful noise” to the Lord. We spent the evening hanging more pictures, and event that takes time in deciding where they should go. I have to take the car to be worked on early tomorrow morning and will try to take items to the recycle center on the way. I am somewhat impressed with the efforts to recycle what can be in this area. There is no trash pick up so everyone takes everything to the centers. It is not much more effort to separate the recyclables and drop them at the same location.
