Many good friends
I got up Friday and went to find a ride to Harlingen to play golf. I found one and planned to meet the driver at 9. In the meantime I went to the hardware store to get some bargains. I was in such a hurry that I forgot to take enough money or my credit cards. I came home and sent Evelyn while I was playing golf. I played very poorly but was blessed in that an 87 year old man in our foursome kept the score and mixed our scores badly enough that I have no idea what my actual score was. I do know that I lost 4 balls. I got home earlier than I thought I would and had lunch of leftovers with Evelyn. I watched the Texas/Texas A&M football game and replaced the door closer on the back screen door. We dressed and left for our visit with our “cousins” in Rio Hondo. We stopped at the Wal-Mart in Harlingen and bought a poinsettia to give them. Janice had prepared beef enchiladas, charro beans, rice and an avocado salad. Evelyn had made a delicious cake for dessert. This meal was totally awesome. They are such good Christian friends. I invited them to our bowl party and think we can invite them here before that. We drove home and suffered the narrow lanes on the highway that is being reconstructed. It will be fantastic when completed but not pleasant while the work is being done. One blessing today was a Thanksgiving Day greeting from the young women I worked with at Taco Bell this past summer. I really appreciate the thoughts they expressed. I will try to send them something for Christmas. We also received cards from our daughters and their “younguns”. God has blessed us with many friends.
