A windy ride

Thursday morning was usual at first, but around 9:15 we took our bikes to the trailer to be loaded. We carpool with the bike club and it was our turn to drive. We drove 15 miles to Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge where we unloaded the bikes and road on the paved path through the park. Evelyn road 3 miles and turned around to go back. The wind was stronger than it had been and the temperature was lower. I rode on for a total of 11.3 miles round trip. The path was protected by “trees” (actually they are tall brushy bushes) so we didn’t ride with too much wind resistance. On the way back, Evelyn and a pastor saw a huge indigo snake that was 8 inches in circumference and 6 feet long. This excited both of them. We all gathered together for our brown bag lunch and then drove back home. We both took naps and dressed for the evening at the concert series. We picked up our friends and went to Appleby’s in Harlingen for dinner. On the way I stopped at Erchingers to ask if I could come to change oil tomorrow morning. Their phone is not working so I couldn’t contact them any of the dozen times I had called. We shared a meal and went on to the concert, The Celtic Tenors. They had wonderful voices but some of the songs were too soothing and lulled us to sleep. The second half of the program was a bit more lively and we stayed awake more easily. We came home and went straight to bed. I guess I was more exhausted from the ride than I thought.
