On the way north.
Tuesday we got up at 7 but didn’t leave until 9:30. We had to pack some of the last minute items: computer, toiletries, etc. and close up the house by turning off the water, setting off some insect bombs and turning off the electricity. We hope we remembered everything. We had a good trip north, stopping for breakfast at McDonald’s to get Evelyn a parfait. We were blessed to see the earth waking from the winter hibernation. There were beautiful blooms on the cacti and blue bonnets in the medians. It was quite warm all day so we thank God for the air conditioning in the car. We got to Houston at 4:10 and made it though by 5:10. Praise God. We stopped in Baytown at a Red Lobster for our second meal. We drove on to Orange where gas was only $3.14 at a Shell station. Our 5% discount made it around $3.00. I knew gas would be much higher the farther north we drove. I saw one sign of $3.49. That is something we aren’t used to in the Valley. We drove on until 8 because I made a mistake in where the casino hotel was. We unpacked our things, got ice for the coolers, walked to the casino and looked around. We needed to walk some because Evelyn’s back hurt from riding all day. She was in bed by 9:15 and asleep by 10. I followed after the news.
