Cruise day 12
We docked at 6 AM and were wakened by the rumbling of the anchor outside our cabin. We dressed and went to breakfast before meeting Jones to take the tender to Puerto Chacabuco, Chile. It was drizzling as we rode the bus 8 miles to Aysen, a nearby town. Years ago it was the port, but the silt from the river clogged it, forcing the port to be moved farther down the river. We were blessed and caught a city bus and rode the 8 miles for $1 each instead of the $20 the taxis wanted. Aysen is a 2 street town, but the streets are long. Tom called his mother who had been in the hospital while we went to a small restaurant for coffee and potty break. The restaurant didn’t serve brewed coffee but Nescafe instead. It was raining harder when we returned by bus to the tender. We had a long walk to the boat and it rained hard and the wind blew hard. We were pretty wet when we reached the ship. We changed clothes and met for pizza and salad before heading off for a nap. We dressed for dinner: my tuxedo, Evelyn long dress. We met for wine and the 7:30 show. Wince we were dressed to the 9s, we went to Il Adagio (Italian restaurant with a cover charge) and enjoyed Italian food. After listening to the young dance troupe sing, we tried dancing to music by one of the worst pianist/singers I have heard playing professionally. We gave up and went to b ed around midnight.
