Day 1 if Evelyn's birthday trip

We left home early Monday morning in a driving rain. We stopped in Clayton, GA for a breakfast sandwich. We continued driving in the rain until lunch time. We ate in a Subway at a Wal-Mart in Grey, GA. We came out to sunshine and drove on to Columbus without further rainfall. It is very hot in Georgia; not just in Hotlanta as some think. It was so hot here that we actually tried to go swimming. The pool was not heated, however, and neither of us was excited to get in. The Lord helped us by sending more rain. After we came into the room, a thunderstorm began. We don't like lightning and water--or golf clubs. We dressed and went to a local catfish restaurant for dinner. It was wonderful. We returned to our room for Monday night football. I neglected to mention that the room we have contains 2 double beds. I distinctly remember reserving a king bed room on the phone with La Quinta central. The manager graciously said we could have a 50% discount on the room for the second night. The first night was free because we stayed in a La Quinta when they had a BOGO deal back in April.
